Quarantined nano predator for carefully planned freshwater aquariums in Canada.
The Scarlet Badis is a tiny, intensely coloured micro-predator prized for the brilliant red and blue striping of mature males. It is best suited to mature planted nano aquariums with careful feeding and peaceful tankmates.
Use a mature planted aquarium with dense cover, gentle filtration, and very calm tankmates. Avoid boisterous feeders that outcompete it.
Males can be territorial in small spaces. Provide plants and broken sightlines if keeping more than one.
Often prefers small live or frozen foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, cyclops, and small worms; may ignore dry foods.
Male colour comes from maturity, health, and proper conditioning. No hormones are used to artificially enhance colour.
All fish at Topick Aquarium are carefully quarantined and conditioned to our stable local tap water before sale. Some oddball and specialty species still have very specific long-term needs, so we recommend matching each fish to the right aquarium size, diet, tankmates, and maintenance routine before purchase.
